Dad, We Will Miss You

The past few days have been some very challenging ones for our family. This week we lost a very special part of our family. While we all have very special memories of dad, no doubt Lisa has and will share some of the most special ones over time. While I have so many wonderful memories of Dad, the one most special to me is a picture I was not around for (I will share it in the future). Lisa has a picture of her and her dad in Europe together from many years ago. It was a time where she needed support and her dad flew to be with her. It truly speaks to his love of his family and how he was always there for his little girl. I hope to do so well with my little girl.

Robert Douglas Swing, Jr., 66, of Radford, passed away Sunday, January 6 2013. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Radford, a U.S. Navy veteran and was a respiratory therapist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. Swing, Sr. and Frances Ward Swing Bozeman. Survivors include his wife, Jane C. Swing; daughter, Elizabeth Swing and future husband Johnny Soucek of Radford; daughter, Lisa Michelle Porcelli and husband David Porcelli of Trabuco Canyon, CA; son, Samuel Douglas Swing of Christiansburg; son, Robert Thomas Swing of Radford; brother, William Rodney Bozeman and wife Jane Bozeman of Lexington, NC; granddaughter, Siena Porcelli; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; colleagues and friends. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to CaringBridge.org or the charity of ones choice. The Swing family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
