Today we left the comfy confines of our Chateau and headed
to the big city of Paris. We bid farewell to our black swan and headed
to see the sights of the city of lights.
The drive in was uneventful, but we quickly understood why it is not fun
to drive in Paris. In Paris, all driving
rules go out the window and it is survival of the most aggressive (or unaware),
both seem to apply here. However, we
found our way to our apartment, dropped off our bags and found the local Avis
office (in Paris you can return your car anywhere without an extra charge, what
a novel idea) to return our car.

Despite the rainy and windy weather we decided to walk back
to our apartment. We stopped along the way for a quick bite of
lunch and then headed back to our home.
There we met our lovely host Virginia Dae. Virginia greeted us and spent time
introducing us to the apartment and then walked us around the neighborhood
pointing out all the wonderful shops.
She recommended a Boulanger, Patisserie, Charcuterie and Fromager. I located the store selling the vin and all
was well.

After we took a little break and unpacked we set out to do
some grocery shopping and exploring of our local surroundings. This little neighborhood and group of stores
would keep us fed and happy for the next 8 days. We then headed to our dining room table for
dinner with a view, of the Eiffel Tower.
With its hourly light show it would become a nightly ritual for Siena
(and us).
