When we were debating where to go for vacation Siena quickly
cast the deciding vote, ”I want to see the Eiffel Tower.” So once we arrived in Paris, there was only
one place to spend our first day.

The
morning was clear and cold, the first of many days chilly days ahead. While the snow had stopped falling, the
temperature had not, so we bundled up to begin our day. Fresh from a good night’s sleep, we headed out to see the Eiffel
Tower. We took a bus across town to
visit a store and enjoyed seeing the Arc de Triomphe as we drove by. As her first official Paris sight, the “Arc
de Trump” as Siena would say offered us our first glimpse of a Paris monument. While we had never discussed the Arc with
Siena it left a lasting impression as we would learn a week later when Siena
would call it out by name from quite a distance.

We arrived at the Eiffel Tower in the bright sunlight and
Siena was truly amazed at how really big it was. As we approached the tower, we could tell
something was a little different; there really weren’t too many people. As it would turn out it wasn’t low season for
tourism, the Eiffel Tower was frozen and closed. Yes indeed, the temperatures were not in
our favor today and would not be for much of our stay. In fact, the top of the Eiffel Tower would
remain closed throughout our entire stay.

So to make the most of the chilly day, we got a hot
chocolate, souvenir Eiffel Tower and Siena took a ride on the carousel across
the street from the Eiffel Tower. Easily
Siena’s favorite ride, the carousel’s of Paris would see a lot of our little
bear.

After the carousel ride we headed home to a nice dinner and watched the Eiffel Tower light show every hour.
