Swim Lessons

Siena and mommy have taken on a new adventure, swim lessons. Okay, they are really more getting used to being in the water lessons at this age, but I think Siena may be the first member of our family who is a great swimmer. Lisa and I aren’t strong swimmers, so Lisa thought it best to get Siena going early here. Good call by mom.

So far the focus has been on going under water for the first time and now we are moving on to kicking your feet. The instructors make it fun for Siena and she really seems to like being in the water, The words Ready….. Set…. Go are her cue for preparing to be submersed and guided along to the next location in the pool. At first we needed to do it slowly to give her time to get prepared. Now she is heading under before you get to “go.” She is so excited every week to be there learning more.

The lessons are educational for us as well. Dad’s technique was too fast and forceful and mom had a bit of a belly flop entry to work through. But we are pretty quick studies and so is our little girl so things progress every week.

Mom is a water sports person, dad sinks like a rock. Siena will likely swim like a fish.
