As new parents Lisa and I have read a lot of parenting information. Any good tip is welcome when you are a new parent. In all the books I read, I don’t believe I read the part about where your two year old child becomes such a sweet, charming love. Most seem to suggest two year olds are a little more challenging. So, I can admit I didn’t see it coming.
Her first “I love you mommy” occurred while on vacation in Australia. A few weeks later there was an “I love you daddy.” This was followed a short while later by unsolicited hugs. Following unsolicited hugs came the requested hug;”I want a hug.” From there we moved to “I want a hug” where I throw my arms out to the side and then run to you and throw myself in your arms. Next was the family hug where we all share a hug. There are now hugs for Bella too. The latest installment here is the unsolicited kiss where Siena puts her hands on both your cheeks and gives you a kiss.
I guess we must be influencing this to some degree and I hope Siena always feels this type of love in her world with her family. I have now decided to read fewer books on what to expect and to just relax and enjoy all that being a parent is (something Lisa has been great about all along). I get the feeling that this strategy will end up with results that are so sweet.
