Siena turned 2 in August and she is celebrating her third Halloween this year. The first year she was a giraffe and didn’t even like having her costume on but liked that it kept her warm and she enjoyed playing with the fringe on the front of it. She was a little over 2 months old at the time and was adjusting to life in general and being in this world.
Her second Halloween she was a Virginia Tech cheerleader and looked super cute in her costume. We took her to a few houses on our street to give her the Halloween experience as she had just learned to walk several weeks earlier. You could tell she just didn’t get it but who would at just over a year old.
Halloween year 3 has proven to be much different and being just over 2 years old her comprehension and development on so many levels has skyrocketed. She enjoyed Halloween this year and had several celebrations to mark the event. First there were a few trips to Pumpkin City where she learned about pumpkins in a patch. Then special events at Disney where she learned to say “Trick or Treat” and “thank you” to get candy. Additionally, there has been her “Happy Halloween” greeting! Everywhere she sees people dressed in costumes, monster displays in stores or driving by the pumpkin patch she is reminded that its Halloween and she reminds us of what she sees. She has gotten several Halloween cards and loves any card that plays music (called a “magic” card). We picked out a card this year that plays “Monster Mash” and she plays it over and over, the music coming from a card is very fascinating at her age. She is growing up so fast right before our eyes and we are enjoying it immensely but realize how quickly this sweet age is flying by.
Last night on Halloween we visited her godparents Frank and Carol Carfioli and their sweet boy Jack, their golden retriever, just as the sun was setting. We visited, played with Jack and helped hand out candy to a few trick-or-treaters. We had intended a short visit to show them our little Rapunzel, but one thing led to another as we enjoyed our time together. After visiting for a while we thought it would be a good idea to get Siena out for the Halloween Trick or Treating neighborhood experience. Siena marched Carol and Mommy up and down the street going from house to house, visiting with the the neighbors and inspecting the decorations. She managed to fill up her pumpkin with candy to add to her growing collection while only hitting a handful of houses. It’s good to be cute, little and sweet!
Too fast and fleeting is this precious stage in her life but we are enjoying every minute while it lasts! Happy Halloween Siena! We love you! Thanks to the Carol and Frank for letting us share Halloween with you both!
