East Coast Visitors

September and October were fun months for us. Besides having a great vacation together we also had visits from some of our family. First in were Grandma Gail and Grandpa Dan. They popped in for a few days while they were out west for business. For Siena, it was wonderful, two more people to play with! Siena has reached a point where she can remember people she hasn’t seen in a while and grandma and grandpa were people she knew and interacted with in a way we haven’t yet seen in her young life.

Lunch at Bistango

While the visit was a short one, Siena packed a lot of activities into their visit. There was a visit to Temecula to do some wine tasting, a day at the Bower’s Kidseum and lunch with daddy at Bistango. There was also a belated birthday celebration for Siena and an early one for Lisa.

When it was finally time to go Siena had only one thing to say to grandma and grandpa, she said “get outta here” in her best Jersey accent. Hmm, I wonder where she learned that one grandpa?

A few days later, Uncle Frank and Aunt Liz arrived for a visit. Again too short of a visit, but great to see them none the less. They had been touring California from up north to down south and we were the last stop on the tour.

Dinner at Splashes

Sunset in Laguna

Their visit started with a great dinner at Splashes in Laguna Beach. The sunset was perfect the weather was nice and the company was great. There is nothing like dinner at the beach to get you into the southern California spirit. The next day Liz and Lisa spent some time enjoying a mutual hobby. They went kayaking in Newport Harbor and worked up an appetite for a birthday dinner at Tutto Fresco with the Carfiolis and Porcellis.

Since this was Liz’s first visit to southern California she wanted to see more of the area so we decided to spend a day in San Diego at the zoo. Siena loved visiting the zoo and telling us all about all the animals she was seeing. I am pretty sure Frank and Liz enjoyed it too as it was a great day in the park. During their visit I also got a chance to spend some time with our family historian. I have a lot of old family photos and Uncle Frank helped to names with many of the faces. When I can find the time I hope to add many of those pictures to the family tree we have built for Siena.

So after a few weeks of extended family fun we settled back in. It was great to see everyone and for Siena to get some time with her family.
