Hohenschwangau

Try to say the name of this town a few times fast. Okay, just twice. No, I can’t do it either.

Buried in the German Alps on the Austrian border, Hohenschwangau is home the Neueschwanstein Castle. This is the castle that inspired the Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World. Build by King Ludwig II, the castle is amazing. Sitting across from it is the Hohenschwangau Castle also a home of Ludwig II. Ludwig II’s reign as king doesn’t to appear to have provided too much for the country of Germany, other than the amazing castles he built.

Lisa and I visited some “storybook” castles on our last visit to Germany, but these castles were very special. Both inside and out they were amazingly well maintained and the location was simply stunning. The pictures will tell the story of these castles so much better than me. Take a look, these castles were something special.

For Siena’s first official castle visit we went big. Sorry Siena, these will be hard to top.
