From Munich we headed to the home of the Sound of Music, Salzburg Austria. Salzburg is a beautiful little city nestled in the Alps. Home to the filming of the Sound of Music it is filled with all the sites to see from the movie.
When we arrived in town at lunch time we wandered off into Mirabell Palace and Gardens which was next to our hotel. Here many “Sound of Music sights” could be found including the Do Re Mi steps where they children learn to sing the song. For those who don’t know this, it is the one song that silences a crying Siena every time. Someone bought her an elephant when she was a few months old that has colored buttons on his nose that play the notes do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do. And daddy taught her (and mommy) the words to the song when she we very little. It is something we sing to her when she is fussy and she goes quiet every time.
After spending time in the park (another place with pretty flowers to pick and smell), we headed to the old town area. Salzburg is a very walkable city and we wandered along the river and through the streets and shops of Salzburg (home of Mozart) for the rest of the day.
