Pretend City is actually a real place. It is in Irvine, a real city. It is a great place for kids. The concept is simple; they created a town in miniature where people in miniature can play. It has stores, restaurants, a fire house and police station. You can farm, shop for groceries and do other cool stuff. A whole “city” packed into one big industrial building space.
As you might imagine, the people who are really pretending are the adults. If you are a child it likely all seems reasonably real. It fits your stature which is probably pleasingly odd. After all, how often do things fit your height when you are not quite 2? You can run and play with a swarm of other kids and everything has rounded corners and pads floors. Not too bad if you are little.
We visited Pretend City with Kristin, Sydney and Grant. It was a long fun day for Siena and mom (dad could only stay for a while on his lunch break). Pretend City does a pretty good business and offers lots of play time and a new cool place to go with our little girl. Part of being a parent is learning about all the different places that offer activities for children. Before Siena, I didn’t know of Gymboree, Pretend City, indoor bounce houses and a host of other places that are geared to the younger set. There are a lot of place making money on the junior circuit. Not sure I even know the half of it yet. We continue to learn about new place and things to do, and so does Siena. That is pretty cool.
