Planting the Seeds for the Tree

We recently went to Virginia and North Carolina to visit with our family. For Siena it was a chance to visit with her Grandparents and to meet some new aunts, uncles and cousins. For us it was a good reason to chow down on some Southern home cooking and to see folks we don't get to visit with often enough. As is always the case, it was great to see family and to let Siena spend some time getting to know them better. While it was a slow start for some, by the end of the trip Siena was happy to be around everyone.

While there were many good times and special memories from the trip, one very special thing started on this trip. The seeds were planted for building Siena's family tree. In coordination with Grammie Jane, we have begun building family tree for Siena on Ancestry.com. We are working on building something we hope to be able to share with everyone later this year. On both sides of the family we go way back in time (1800s or further back) and to foreign countries, Italy, Denmark , Germany and other exciting places.

Our goal is to be able to share this family tree with everyone later this year. It is a project that can consumer you pretty quickly, but we want Siena to know about her family when she grows up. For Lisa and I it is an interesting journey that is long overdue for us as well. It is really neat to learn more about your family, who they were and who you are.
