So now the great naming journey begins. All the interesting things one must consider when naming a baby....
- what does the name mean? Does this really matter?
- what will the initials spell? This quickly rules out many combinations including Willomina Olivia, Nancy Ann, Lydia Irene, Pamela Ursala, Cory Ophelia, etc.
- how creative should we be? Creative often means scarred during childhood.
- what rhymes with the name that could eventually be used to torment our child? Again this rules out a few things petty quickly. Luckily there is a website that vets these things out for you and gives you a list of the most popular taunts attached to each name. (Where was this website when I was a kid, it really would have added some color to my repertoire.)
- is it popular today or was it popular in the 1950's? Not there is anything wrong with Beatrice, but possibly a bit dated.
So another step along the path to parenthood is taken. Now we can move on to picking things in pink and yellow. She's sugar, she's spice, she's everything nice and she's daddy's little girl.
