On the Ice

You knew it was going to have to happen.  After all, I play hockey and love to skate.  And so it was that we headed to the rink in Aliso Viejo to get my little girl on skates for the first time.  Amazingly they have tiny little skates for tiny little feet.  With her bike helmet on to protect against disaster she headed toward the ice.   Walking on the skinny little blades was not a challenge for Siena, but once on the ice things got a bit slipperier.

With her hands in mine we glided around the rink a few times.  In true Siena fashion she insisted on wanting to do it herself, the results were predictable and cold on her bottom.   She watched the children learning how to skate and tried to mimic their moves.  She found a slight sense of balance but preferred having daddy's hands to hold.

It was a short visit to the rink but quite a memorable experience.  I suspect we will go again and again as Siena grows up.  She loves to try new things and ice skating was one of them.

This time mom took pictures, next time I will get both of my girls on the ice.
