Today was a special day for our little Siena, her first dance class. Our little girl loves to dance and sing at home so when I asked her if she was interested in going to take a class she immediately said "yets" (Siena's yes). She dances at every opportunity she can get, which we love...in her carseat, in the house to her favorite princess songs, when she's at the dinner table and with us! So on Wednesday we stopped by Cal Elite to check out their classes and schedules.
After being in the facility and having a look around Siena wanted to start that day. For dance there was one class available for her age group called the "Twirly Bees" and it was to be her first class without Mommy (everything to this point has been Mommy and me). She was very excited so we set out that evening in search of shoes for ballet and tap. We had success in finding both and we were set for class the next day.
When we arrived at the facility we checked in and went upstairs to the dance studio rooms. Siena was so ready she wanted to go right in to another class and start but I explained to her she had to wait for her class. So she waited and watched the other little girls through the two way glass. When it was time for her class we went in and met Ms. Sophie who welcomed Siena and assured me it would go great. I said to Siena I would be outside, to have fun and listen to what Ms. Sophie was teaching. I went outside the class room instead of watching from inside because knowing my little Siena as I do she would have a better chance of not being distracted by me and focusing if she didn't see me.
I set up all my cameras and video so I could capture the event like a proud Mom does and what I saw over the next 20 minutes just amazed me. She was a vision of sweetness, hair piled high on her head in a pretty pink little dance outfit and too big tights that Mommy didn't get a chance to launder coupled with the mischevieness, free spirit I love about her. I was blown away at seeing my little tiny baby just a few years ago had turned into this cute little toddler starting something on her own.
She did an amazing job...sometimes following the teacher and watching for approval that she was doing the correct move and sometimes breaking the line and running out to dance on her own. The event brought tears to my eyes aa I watched my little girl grow up just a little more.
