Boston in the Rain

On the backend of our recent trip Easter for my sister’s birthday, we had a chance to visit Boston for a quick 2 day turn. It was Lisa and Siena’s first visit to the city and the area, so we did a lot of driving and looking around. The early summer weather was warm but rainy and foggy, so driving around the area was the best bet.
As fate (and Jet Blue) would have it, traffic was no issue since we arrived at 1 am into Boston after a lengthy delay. We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast in the Sudbury area, The Inn at the Horse Farm. Yes, it really is a horse breeder of Arabian stallions. A very nice quiet spot and one we enjoyed our stay at.

We toured around the Boston area on day one driving the sights on the Freedom Trail. We also made a trip out to Harvard University and Cambridge. Lisa left inspired to start rowing on a crew team and Siena was picking out dorm rooms. Uh oh.
That afternoon we made a special visit to the Children’s Museum in downtown Boston. Siena absolutely loved the chance to run, play and interact with all the different displays and learning experiences. The bubbles room was a hit as was the one that look at the effects of gravity and momentum. It had many ways to roll a golf ball down different ramps to create motion. Siena caught on very quickly and had multiple golf balls chasing each other in no time. She also enjoyed driving trucks up and down ramps and anything that allowed for climbing.
For dinner we found a sensational little Italian restaurant where we all enjoyed a nice meal. A quiet out of the way place in Somerville that was perfect for us.
Day two brought us back downtown where we did some light sightseeing. The Old North Church and statue of Paul Revere on the North End allowed us to enjoy some Revolutionary War history. Since it is the best Italian eating area in town, we found Ernesto’s and had a great slice of Pizza for lunch.
It was a short visit, but is definitely an area we will visit and tour again. Boston still has a small city charm about it and tons of history to see and enjoy.
