Every year we try to make it home to enjoy the holiday spirit of New York City at Christmas. This year our trip was a little different, it was very short. We got back to NY for a quick weekend. Unfortunately we weren’t able to visit with all the people we wanted to see. On the good side, we kept our tradition alive and were able to enjoy the city for a day.

We visited with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Dan. We enjoyed a nice dinner with Uncle Frank, Liz and Elizabeth at Fornos. We also had a nice visit with Frank, Laurel and Waverly; the first time Siena and Waverly could actually play together (or at least in the same room, I think they call it parallel play at this age). Sarah and her friend Jaime joined us for our visit to NYC where we met part of the Howard clan under the Tree in Rockefeller Center. And we got to see my sister Debbie and Mikey also. I guess we did okay on visiting a few people.

New York was pretty as always, and we got there on one of the few nice days of the shopping season, so it was a mad house. Wall to wall people. The throngs of folks caused us to re-route some of regularly scheduled activities, but we did our best to take it all in. The windows this year were less than spectacular. Bloomingdales completely lost their way this year, looks like they are now selling 42 inch flat screen TVs. Saks decide to sell clothing versus creating some Christmas magic. Lord and Taylor was traditional and nice. Barney’s had fun with the world of celebrity chefs. Watching Siena enjoy all the windows was special. The tree was beautiful and we captured our annual picture by the tree. Siena also did her first charitable work, helping the Salvation Army ring their bells for Christmas. She did so good they gave her a bell.
