And then one day you look over and Siena is swinging alone on the swing. She is going really high and there is no adult in sight. And you think to yourself wow, I taught her how to do that. And so you say,"Siena that's is so great, I am so proud of you! You are swinging so good." You are proud of her. You are proud of yourself. And then she says, "Aurelia taught me how to swing." Yep, Aurelia is a 6 year old friend from church.
A few days later, she bounces across the monkey bars from end to end. Great arm strength! "Mommy look what Lola taught me to do!" Yes, Lola is a 6 year old friend from her Kindergarten class.
I guess the reality of where kids learn things is arriving. And while we won't get credit for our efforts (from Siena), we know in our hearts we actually had something to do with what she learns. Even if it is only choosing the right friends who will get all the credit.
