Off To See The Wizard

I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore Toto.

For Siena’s 4th Birthday party this past weekend we went Over the Rainbow with our little Dorothy and her friends to celebrate.   As she gets older, birthdays are more important to her and a theme seems to be a must.  So when we talked about all the different options with her, we were surprised when we landed on something that wasn’t Disney oriented.  Siena wanted a Wizard of Oz party.  Grandma Gail had bought her the perfect Dorothy dress at Easter time, and Siena’s part in the party was never in question.

With Dorothy ready to go, we built a fun party set for her and her friends to enjoy.    If you know the story, then you will appreciate our journey down the yellow brick road.

Looks like a twister – our 4 foot tall twister greeted our guests .

Just beyond the twister  and Over the Rainbow, someone dropped a house on the Wicked Witch of the East!

As you past his scene you entered Munchkin land and the started your journey on the yellow brick road.

Guest were greeted by Glinda the good witch of the North.

The Lollipop Guild presented guests with the Munchkinland Sweet Shop that provide treats for all the guests.

The Wicked Witch of the West flew over Munchkinland.

As guests continued their journey along the yellow brick road they were accompanied by three smart, loving and courageous friends.
Lions and Tigers and Bears.... Oh my!

Through the poppy fields our travelers went until they reach the Emerald City.

Once they finished their journey they were able to jump into professor Marvel’s balloon for the journey back to Kansas.

With a face painter and arts and crafts activities the kids could enjoy the lead in to the California party tradition, the piñata!

And then in the immortal words of Dorothy guests were reminded that there was no place like home.  It was a fun day and with the help of so many of our good friends (special thanks to Vicki and Chrystal) we had a great party for our little girl.

So with Goodie bags in hand, begone with you, before someone drops a house on you too!  (But come back again soon!)
