Last Day in Sydney

For our last day in Sydney we slept in later than usual (7 am), packed up, enjoyed another fantastic breakfast in the restaurant and headed back up to our room to take in more of the great views of the harbor.

Since we had an afternoon flight we had a few hours to spare and thought we’d walk to the bridge. There’s a nice foot path that is beside the highway on one side with a bike path on the other. We started out through the Rocks and wound up on the path alongside the bridge with, not surprising, great views once again. Not surprising also is the height and wind that makes the experience seem that much more adventurous. The bridge is very high and not for the faint of heart or you’ll find yourself dizzy from the cars and trucks zooming by and the feeling of movement from their vibration. When you reach a pylon (the towers that the support the bridge) then you feel once again on solid ground as they anchor the bridge in four separate places. By luck we walked to the one pylon that you can climb over 200 stairs to rise even further into the sky. Not as high as the bridge climb you can take which allows you to venture out over the top side of the bridge but a fun vantage point providing 360 degree breathtaking views. Visiting the bridge was a beautiful way to end our last day in Sydney and a perfect reminder of why we fell in love with the city.

The people of Sydney were absolutely friendly and made us right at home and it’s a great family destination that caters lovingly to little ones! Can’t wait for our next visit! On to the Great Barrier Reef!
